Shocking Update: General Hospital is facing a new crisis and may have to halt operations.
It looks like there’s just as much drama off screen these days as there is on screen for our favorite residents of this fictional town of Port Charles.
General Hospital Is Dealing With Ratings Drama Again
General Hospital news says that the ABC and Directv feud is affecting viewers and ultimately the show’s rating. And of course, it’s not a good thing at all. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, there are 11 million customers who are without their ABC channel as talks between the network and Directv have failed to reach an agreement.
In fact, DirecTV’s chief content officer, Rob Thun, even said in a statement: “The Walt Disney Co. is once again refusing any accountability to consumers, distribution partners, and now the American judicial system.”
“Disney is in the business of creating alternate realities, but this is the real world where we believe you earn your way and must answer for your own actions.”
Needles to say, the internet sure did have a lot to say about the matter. Some even commented with, “I HAVE to have DirectTV Stream as my apartment management contracts with them. I HATE it. Yes, very strong word. $115/month for wireless and it’s not a huge lineup.”
Another critic wrote, “Dish network has the right strategy. They dropped the abc station in Orlando, Florida for a long time when they demanded high extortion, err, retransmission fees.”
“Basically everything on cable is old, a lot of old old programs I grew up watching!… you might as well just be watching regular TV.”
What’s Next For General Hospital Fans?
And then there was this comment as well: “It will be 2 years in October since I’ve had ABC – most recently DTV(UVerse) just cut Disney and other channels so guess what.. buy bye – finally cutting the cord.”
“Disney did this to spectrum, now directv. I’m on directv’s side on this one. Drop abc, espn, etc. for all I care. Greedy Disney.”
General Hospital airs weekdays on the ABC network. Check your local listings for times.
